"I want to see visible improvement in the lives of common man in both rural and urban areas."
He said this while receiving a briefing on progress in development projects in areas of District Mandi Bahauddin. Nazim Chaudhry Riaz Akhtar updated the President about development in the area.
Musharraf said he would have briefings from each district nazim on the pace of development projects in his respective area.
"I am sure that projects in key sectors including health, education, safe drinking water, brick-lining of water channels, provision of electricity and construction of farm to market roads will set the pace for all-round uplift in the lives of poor," he stated.
The President said he himself would pursue progress in these sectors because these have direct impact on the lives of the common people.
"The completion of projects will have far-reaching effects - they will combine to spur growths in the rural areas where the majority of the population resides - and enhancement in the quality of education will promote human resource development."
Musharraf said construction of roads will facilitate peasants access to markets and they would be able to sell their produce at better prices.
